Blog Post Submissions

The Undergraduate Politics & Law Journal at Fairleigh Dickinson University welcomes blog submissions from undergrads, post-grads, and professionals.

We are a non-partisan blog; all opinion-based entries must support their claims with evidence. Like journal submissions, all contributions must be original and focus on contemporary political or legal issues. We welcome a variety of disciplines, methods of research and analysis (historical, legal, quantitative, sociological), and topics.

Blog entries typically range from 500 to 1,200 words. Since blogs are intended to be shorter and more conversational, avoid lengthy text that can detract from the ‘punch’ of your piece.

Authors may submit their work any time during the academic year, from August through May. Submissions received over the summer will be considered during the next academic year.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Use clear, declarative sentences with minimal academic jargon; if academic terms are necessary, define them briefly.

  • Paragraphs should be roughly 2 to 4 sentences.

  • Graphics and images are encouraged but not required.

  • Ensure your blog communicates ideas clearly and is self-explanatory with clear labels and easy readability.

  • When using outside sources, explain them clearly and apply accurate and fair citation practices. Previous UPLJ blog entries may also be cited as evidence.

  • Include a one-sentence bio at the end, with an optional hyperlink to your website.

If you have further questions about our blog submission guidelines, refer to the FAQ section or email us at fairleighuplj@gmail.com. If you want to “pitch” a blog idea, send our team a brief description of the idea and your plan to develop it.
